EtherCAT Master Software For Embedded Operating Systems
esd electronics, Inc. announces the release of the newest product in their EtherCAT® product line, an EtherCAT® Master software for Windows, Linux, QNX, and vxWorks.
EtherCAT® is an Ethernet-based fieldbus protocol optimized for high-speed, real-time industrial control based on a Master/Slave configuration. For instance, process data exchange with 1000 distributed digital I/O requires approximately thirty micro-seconds. Data for 100 servo axes can be updated with a frequency of up to 10 kHz. The EtherCAT® Master device requires only a standard Ethernet MAC, even without dedicated communication co-processor.
esd electronics, Inc. recently made the decision to focus on EtherCAT® in the highly competitive Ethernet technology market, and proudly announces the release of its new software product, the EtherCAT® Master Stack software for embedded operating systems. This new product will offer an opportunity for a smooth transition from established network applications into Ethernet.
Designed with respect to high performance, small resource usage and scalability, the EtherCAT® Master software has core components that are operating system (OS) and CPU architecture independent and makes a port to customer-specific application targets very easy.

In addition to the Master Software esd electronics, Inc. also offers an EtherCAT® to CAN/CANopen Gateway that allows the connection of CAN/CANopen devices to an EtherCAT® network. For future release, esd electronics, Inc. is currently working on several EtherCAT® projects such as a Soft-PLC (IEC 61131) interface, an EtherCAT® starter kit, and a VME/PMC-EtherCAT® Master board.
